Social Contribution

CJ CheilJedang has made an effort to fulfill its social responsibilities. We promote the activities for social
contribution which we can do best in the area where social attention is needed.

Overview of Social Contribution

CJ CheilJedang upholds its founding philosophy ‘Contributing to the national economy and humanity as a whole’ in our social sharing activities.
Since we organized the social contribution department for the first time in the industry in 1999, CJ CheilJedang has constantly carried out social
contribution activities in the fields where it excels and upon which the company and society need to focus. Since 1998, we have participated in the
Food Bank project to share food products using the characteristics of our business. We also founded the CJ Welfare Foundation and CJ Cultural
Foundation to support children and teenagers in achieving their dreams as well as to develop cultural human resources.

CJ CheilJedang aims to plan program related with its businesses and encourage the participation of employees based on the core shared value of
health, safety and sustainable environment. We carry out a wide range of the activities of social contribution in order to build a harmonious society.

Major Activity

Health and Safety

Chan Chan Chan

We operate the Chan Chan Chan Project, which supports the self-reliance of
single-parent households and helps children grow healthy and strong. We
conduct the Chan Chan Chan Project to provide unmarried single-parent
households with nutritious side dishes prepared with love and care by our
employees using our products. About 180 employees participated in this
project and delivered food to over 600 single parents’ households.

Programs for
Children’s Health

We carries out activities for children with atopic dermatitis by using our
BYO products that help alleviate the skin disease. At our Atopy Camp where
participants spend two days and one night, we provide BYO products
and help children enhance their physical and mental immunity and enjoy
interacting with their family. We plan to expand the scope of the event to
include a children’s health checkup program for socially underprivileged

Food Support in

We supports people hit by disasters by providing them with emergency
aid food consisting of our products for their stable dietary life. We built the
emergency support system in cooperation with the Korea Disaster Relief
Association to swiftly deliver support goods to damaged areas. In 2019, we
provided emergency aid food amounting to KRW 50 million to the people
damaged by the fire in Gangwon-do.

CJ Food Sharing

We have launched a new food sharing program, which is called “CJ Food
Sharing Fridge” in order to resolve the meal skip and nutrient deficiencies
for food vulnerable groups. Also, we have donated the products that are not
defective but cannot be sold to the independent homeless support center
and operated the fridge. In this regard, we have been supporting self-reliant
homeless people who are suffering with cooking to let them have stable
and healthy meal. Through this project, It has contributed the prevention of
hunger as well as promotion for will of independence.

Sustainable Environment


Extension of Resource Circulation Cycle of Plastic Waste
We run the social contribution program titled ‘Hetbahn Gardening’,
where employees participate in recycling (upcycling) the containers of
‘Hetbahn’ products and wooden pallets. Using these recycled resources, the
participants make an indoor vertical garden (flowerpot) and donate them to
local children centers. In 2019, 772 employees participated in this program,
made 135 indoor vertical garden structures, and donated them to local
children’s centers, contributing to the environmental improvement.

Goodwill Store

Reducing Disposed Food
We donate products that cannot be sold in the market but still have values
as food to welfare facilities, thereby reducing the environmental impact of
our business. In particular, we contribute to increasing the self-reliance of
those with disabilities by providing these products to Goodwill Store, which
creates jobs for the disabled. In 2019, we donated products amounting
to KRW 1.6 billion, which helped us reduce 314 tons of waste from food
products and stabilize employment of over 120 people with disabilities.
