Social Contribution Strategies
In 1999, the company organized a social contribution department for the first time in the industry, and conducted relevant activities in the fields where CJ CheilJedang excels and upon which the company needs to focus. In 1998, the company first participated in the Food Bank project, and it has been engaged in various activities ranging from those using the characteristics of the company’s business to those in which its stakeholders can participate together. The CJ Welfare Foundation was established in 2005 to support the dreams of children and teenagers from underprivileged households. In 2006, the CJ Cultural Foundation was organized to support the development of fostering talents for cultural development, and the foundation has initiated various sharing activities.

Promoting the healthy food life of citizens
CJ CheilJedang is making efforts to improve the health of citizens by capitalizing on our core competencies, i.e. food safety and nutrition, to solve the food problems of the vulnerable social group and contribute to healthy food life.

By developing and launching products in consideration of not only the health of citizens, but also people with rare diseases, we are making the best use of the characteristics of the industry and fulfilling our corporate social responsibility.

Sharing food through the food bank
CJ CheilJedang’s representative social contribution activity, which we have been conducting for 20 years, was that we donated 20,500 gift sets in 2017. Each gift set can feed a family of four for 3 months.
Activities to reinforce the food safety competencies of stakeholders
Education to train the food safety manpower of Korea Food Safety Association
We are conducting new types of activities together with Korea Food Safety Association, the first non-profit foundation related to food safety in Korea. We are providing customized consulting not only to the partners of CJ CheilJedang, but also to general small-and medium-sized food companies as well as information on food safety laws and education.
Preserving the environmental ecosystem of the local community
Through resource protection and environmental disease prevention activities in the local community, we are making efforts to preserve the environmental ecosystem of the local community.
Environmental purification activities for protecting the resources of the local community
Environmental purification activities near business operations
We conduct 1 company-1 river, 1 company-1 mountain and 1-company-1 sea activities, i.e. taking acre of and cleaning the natural environment near our business operations, such as Mt. Gyeryongsan of Daejeon, Mt. Banyasan of Nonsan, Dadaepo beach and Anyangcheon stream. A total of 533 employees participated in environmental purification activities in 2017, and the number of participation hours totaled 1,343 hours.
Environmental disease prevention activities
Goodbye atopy camp
CJ CheilJedang has since 2016 been sponsoring the ‘Family Camp for the Family of Children with Atopy’ in which preschoolers, who are suffering from atopy, an environmental disease, and their families participate. We provided ‘BYO skin lactobacillus’ products, and shared recipes with them. In addition, CJ CheilJedang BYO product developers gave lectures to provide them with correct information on atopy and how to alleviate it so that children suffering from itchy skin can become healthy again.
Realizing the dreams of youths
According to our philosophy of ‘We must keep the dreams of youths,’ CJ CheilJedang is making efforts to help the youths realize their dreams.
CJ Donors Camp – providing educational opportunities and emotional support
Under the slogan of ‘Equal opportunity and healthy growth,’ we are continuously operating the CJ Donors Camp that supports Community Child Centers. On Chuseok of 2017, we visited the Community Child Center in Gangseo-gu, and 801 employees made holiday dishes with the children, and had opportunities to publicize the value of sharing through regular volunteer activities.
METIER “Let’s Turn On” campaign
The METIER brand, which enriches beverages, is helping the underprivileged realize the common dream of becoming a ‘barista.’ Those employees who are baristas donated their talent for out-of-school youths, and gave new menu development consulting and special barista lectures.
