CJ CheilJedang’s Food Ingredient and Food business units have introduced food products with great taste and differentiated quality such as ‘Beksul,’ ‘Freshian,’ ‘Haechandle,’ ‘DASIDA,’ ‘CJ Cooked Rice’ and ‘Petitzel,’ to cater to changing social trends and customer needs, with a focus on health and convenience. The premium brand power of our products continues to pave the way for our growth. In addition, we will nurture 'Bibigo' into a global brand to take the lead in introducing Korean cuisine, and introduce “Hansik,” in the global market.
Since the Bioscience business unit of CJ CheilJedang began with MSG production in 1964, it has been producing Lysine, Threonine, Tryptophan, and Nucleic acid based on its 50 years of experience in the microorganism fermentation business. In 2003, the Bio BU held the global No. 1 market share for Lysine, Tryptophan, and Fermented Nucleic acid, with the market share of Fermented Nucleic acid reaching 45%, playing a pivotal role in CJ's global business. Since its domestic launch in 1973, the Bio sector entered the markets of China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines, producing and selling various products in pork, poultry, and fish farming. We are actively seeking to expand our business in the Southeast Asian nations, which have huge growth potential.
The Pharmaceutical business unit completed the cGMP plant construction in the Osong Complex in 2010 to produce pharmaceutical products that meet global standards, laying the foundations for global market entry.
Not satisfied with simply being the No. 1 food company in Korea, CJ CheilJedang will strengthen its global business so that it serves as a future growth engine, and achieve our goal of 33 trillion won in sales, 3.5 trillion won in operating profit, and overseas sales portion of 70%.
